Early Spring Engagement Session at Jester State Park, Des Moines, Iowa | Kelcie & Zachery
Kelcie and Zachery chose a beautiful Iowa state park just outside of Des Moines for their engagement photos, and it couldn't have been a more fitting location. Surrounded by the scenic trails, and peaceful overlooks, they spent the evening simply enjoying each other's company while we captured the excitement leading up to their wedding day.
One of my favorite parts of every engagement session is getting to know my couples beyond the wedding planning. It gives us the chance to slow down, laugh together, and create genuine moments without the timeline of a wedding day. By the time their wedding arrives, standing in front of the camera feels natural, making their portraits even more relaxed and authentic.
The early spring scenery created a timeless backdrop for their light and airy engagement photos. While the trees were just beginning to bloom, the soft neutral colors allowed the focus to remain exactly where it belonged—on Kelcie and Zachery and the love they share. As the sun began to set, the warm golden light added the perfect finishing touch to an already beautiful evening.
From quiet walks along the trails to the joyful laughter they shared together, every moment reflected the excitement of this new chapter in their lives. Sessions like these are a reminder that the most meaningful photographs often come from simply being yourselves.
I cannot wait to celebrate alongside Kelcie and Zachery on their wedding day and capture the next chapter of their story!
